Hi,

Synology Drive ShareSync is working like clockwork for Team Folders among different Synology NAS boxes (let's assume I have a Master (DS918+) and Slave (DS718+).
As does Snapshot replication by the way, as a newbie to Synology I'm impressed.

I was expecting Drive ShareSync would also sync along the Drive folders from the individual users (assume a team of three), but it does not (although Hyper Backup does take the home folders along when doing Drive Server "Application backup" towards e.g. C2.

How are you creating a "hot standby" backup of the individual Drive folders, and by extension the standard home folders?

I could use the C2 restore option if my Master, but I prefer to have a complete "hot standby".
Snapshot Replication and ShareSync already takes me over half way, but I seem to be missing a component...

Snapshot Replication of the homes Shared Folder? This does not seem logic as it makes the homes folder on the Slave read/only...
rsync? Let's hope not ;-).

Any thoughts, ideas and/or best practices?

Cheers

Hello, for the moment i'm using Team folder with specific permissions but i'd also like to use the homes shared folder and sync them with my second NAS (what seems to be not possible...)
The new DRIVE is better, that's a pity to not be able to sync home folders between 2 NAS with Drive ShareSync...

welcome in this forum, what is the purpose of sync the folders between two NAS by Drive ShareSync? At same LAN? At same place (flat, house, office)?

Hello

Actually this is to automatically dupliclate the datas on my second NAS which is located on a different place (outside of my home).
Drive sharesync is doing automatically the job to sync the datas. The problem is that is not able to configure synchro for home folders...

Compliment for such approach (two places).
So back to Home folders:
- you can use NFS mount of source side at Target side. Then you have available data at not side.
- if you have btrfs in both sides (source/target) you can use Replication
- if the target is just for backup purpose, then Hyperbackup Sync to Target side

Thanks for the compliment
I don't have btrfs with DS118 NAS.
My idea is to allow automatic replication in both ways.
NAS1 to NAs2
NAs2 to Nas1

As drive sharesync is doing well :)

Yeap, Drive ShareSync is perfect.
I don’t use Home folders.
Hm. Then Rsync. It jus one way, from Source to Target. Then you need two rsync to make both side synced.
It is called Shared Folder Sync. Guide you can find here

I'm sorry
Actually i wanted to talk about the new "Synology Drive Sharesync" product that i'm using.
Synology can bring up confusions with their different products...
This last one is the almost the perfect one.
- auto sync between 2 Nas (2 ways)
- auto backup versioning

The only problem for me is for Drive home folders which could not be synchronized...
But it's mentioned on the synology documentation, i just hope we'll have an update to allow this kind of sync

Ok but do you know why they excluded it?
Using Synology Drive means 》 ok to sync team folders with another NAS but not possible to sync your drive home folders..
That doesn't make sense as we also have important datas inside that we"d like to have on another NAS

This forum is not Synology official, then we many times don’t know why is Synology moves their steps to future.
Then, many of us don’t use home folders and we can care about our data with better level, also with Drive sync to another NAS.
If there is an obstacle:
- you can fight with them
- or find useful solution.
But waiting for Synology is sometimes pointless.

If that screenshot is from the client end then local means on the Drive client, and NAS means Drive Server.
