Question DS1819+ and M.2 SSD Cache Advise

Hi,

I wanted to get some opinions on the M.2 SSDs for R/W cache. I am going to be purchasing a DS1819+ shortly and want to know which M.2 SSD to buy.

Does anyone have a specific drive in mind or that you use that you would suggest? I checked the compatibility page on Synology.com and found that it kept saying to purchase the enterprise M.2 drives. When looking for them, they weren't readily available through consumer sites, so I wanted to see if anyone has purchased one of the consumer grade drives or recommends those instead. Also, do I need to purchase 2 of these drives? Or can I get away with one? I only ask because in the posts on the Synology Subreddit everyone was purchasing two. I'm aware you need more memory when using an SSD cache, through work I got Crucial 2x16GB of memory ready to be installed, probably overkill, but I got it for literal pennies on the dollar.

A little background on my use, I run a database application for my note and general document repository, synced via WebDAV. I am running BitWarden, thanks to Rusty via a Docker container. I am also running Resilio sync not in a docker container yet, but I am thinking of moving it into Docker. I will be adding Git Server as my remote repo for my Hugo blog and wiki backup location. Overall, I'm looking to replace cloud services I was happy to use until recently when I lost some data, not critical data, but enough where I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.

Thanks for any advise!

Cheers,
Josh

Okay, thanks WST16 and Rusty. I am leaning towards purchasing two for R/W cache support.
Keep in mind that there was a new 10G with 2 SSD slots for cache card announced today, E10M20. Still no info when it will be out or what exact models it will support.

Good to hear. You could also clone the drive and expand the data partition using Clonezilla/gParted.
