I just recklessly loaded it onto 5 diskstations and a rackstation; everything seems to be fine.

Release notes:

(2019-07-04)

Important Note

  1. The update is expected to be available for all regions within the next few days, although the time of release in each region may vary slightly.
  2. This update will restart your Synology NAS.
  3. In response to Gmail API changes, your DSM needs an update to this version to continue the functionality of sending notifications via Gmail. If you wish to skip this update, or if your Synology product model is not eligible to update to DSM 6.2, please refer to the following article which will guide you through the manual configuration: How to use Gmail SMTP server to send emails for DSM

Fixed Issues

  1. Optimized the repair mechanism of RAID 6.
  2. Enhanced the stability of Btrfs file system.
  3. Enhanced the performance of the scheduled task to automatically empty the recycle bin.
  4. Adjusted Gmail notification authentication mechanism to comply with the new Gmail API.
  5. Fixed the issue where the public sharing link function might not work properly.
  6. Fixed several issues which might result from the defective NVMe SSDs, such as system startup failure.
  7. Fixed the issue where Google Chrome might autofill usernames and passwords into incorrect fields.
  8. Fixed the issue where the encrypted shared folders could not be accessed under certain conditions.
  9. Fixed the issue where the encrypted shared folders could not be mounted properly after system startup.
  10. Fixed the issue where, after the restart of Synology NAS or the configuration of Synology High Availability, the domain service powered by Directory Server for Windows Domain might not work properly.

Aaaaand...I spoke too soon. Upgrading to Update 2 caused my Diskstations that were functioning as UPS servers to "forget" which other Diskstations had permission to be clients. So I had to repopulate the permission list on each UPS server.

Update 2 is showing available to download and install directly in dsm now. For those that have installed, does it appear stable?

What to do? Wait until Control Panel updates too?
I’d wait. @akahan took six (not one) for the team, let’s keep an eye on him :)

But why didn't it say anything about update 1?!
Why now?!

Must be a trick to lure me into a false sense of security while it ruins my life.

Question everything, believe nothing.

Here we go…

It just showed up a few hours ago and the two stations started firing up emails panicking saying that the sky will fall, the cute puppy next door will die (never liked it anyway), the dolphins will drown, the sun will melt and it's going to be the end of the world if I don't update. Shut the * already.

It's a psychological warfare this is. Try not to succumb.

Updated 1 of mine as a test.... then had to update a 2nd because I realized it wasn't sending out notifications. So, running two as testers before I do the rest. No problems with those first two, DS216j and DS215+
