Solved DSM cannot update

Solved DSM cannot update

I get the error "The operation failed. Please login to DSM again and retry"

I also cannot restart or power off the NAS from the DSM menu. Clicking the button shows a dialog box claiming to restart or shutdown the NAS but nothing actually happens.

I also tried to hold down the power button to manually shutdown the NAS, but the power button keeps blinking and doesn't actually shutdown the NAS.

I tried reaching out to synology but their support page just doesn't load after thr initial exchange where they asked me to hold down the power button to shutdown.

If SSH... login as admin

then

sudo su

enter admin password, then...

echo 0 >/dev/ttyS1 #normal shutdown

alternatively...
echo C >/dev/ttyS1 #hard reset

echo 1 >/dev/ttyS1 #instant poweroff

echo 0 >/dev/ttyS1 #normal shutdown

reboot #normal reboot

thank you i have been having an issue with doing a manual install of the upgrade package for plex v1.25 on dsm7, installing and using firefox to log into the dsm has resolved my issue
