Adding another drive to my SHR-setup in my DS918+ takes forever, as documented in many other threads. Is this "checking parity consistency" related to how much data I have on my drives in my setup already? Would this process go faster if I had less data on my drives?

3 cycles? If it keep taking this much time I probably have to wait a week for this to finish (going from 2x6TB to 3x6TB).
As Rusty said, it covers everything. But the OS and swap partitions are relatively small, and take far less time.

You can speed it up with this change (revert when finished)
