Good day :)

I am planning a network for my home, a building of 4 apartments. Two heads are better than one and so I want to get a review of the proposed topology attached here.

The downlink from telco to home is Fiber 200 Mbps into a a traditional brick and mortar building of total 400 sq. meters space.

I am already looking for POE switches with vLANs and LACP for link aggregation with the Synology server. vLAN feature is needed since I plan to separate iot devices from other devices' traffic. Please give recommendations and consideration to note in order to buy the most fit devices. I anticipate there will be moderate to high network use since the number of permanent connected clients is at least 20 including the Synology file, collaboration and media server and a total of 10 mobile phones.

Where is the network bottleneck ? Is there a minimum down-link or the 200 Mbps will suffice ? Do I need a cabinet or enclosure for network devices ?

It would be great to provide considerations that facilitate management and securing of my proposed network.

Current pain points :

- Disconnections , don't know are they external (from ISP) or due to poor current network setup (a router modem by the ISP and a wireless router in bridge mode) that serves all users
- Lag on my child PS4 and the weekly related headache and complaints 🤪
- A number of WiFi dead points

Thankfully, please review and tell if there are any missing parts or issues to consider, including possible pitfalls or traffic bottlenecks.

Can you add more info to the topology regarding wifi/eth connectivity and cable standards?

This will depend on the needs of the clients, the quality of the material being consumed etc, so not something that can be said easily.

Again, it will depend where you want to terminate everything and how. Will you have all your endpoints terminated in a patch panel that will go into a switch or directly to a switch? Do you plan on keeping nas, switch together (maybe UPS as well), or not? It will all depend if you and how you visioned your setup in the new space.

Would recommend to wire everything you can, and leave wifi for iot and/or mobile devices only.

Updated diagram with wired/wireless links. I need advice on cable standards what will be the minimum in my situation and what will be required for near future.

Thanks @Rusty , Oh I know of course, but using only integrated products to build a network doesn't seem...
