User introduction Hi I'm new to this forum and need some guidance from a guru.

Need a bit of help with my DS 415 Play as I've just noticed after updating to the latest DSM version 6.2.3-25426 and I've noticed there are a lot of Synoelasticd processes running although it says sleeping there are 16 all told it says that there is 6.2 mb private and 12.8 mb shared on them all is this normal? as I have rebooted the box and its still the same? Is there anyway in which to kill/cancel these processes

Welcome to the forum!

Best to open a separate topic consider that this is an introduction topic.

In short, these processes are from the Universal Search app. It's indexing your data and if you do have Drive running it can get a bit hectic at times. From what version did you upgrade from? US was introduced with DSM 6. Did you upgrade just now to the new DSM 6.x version from version 5.x or what?

In any case, you don't need to worry about those processes, they are perfectly normal and part of DSM.

There are ways to stop indexing and to stop the tool, but you can't really "officially" uninstall it.

Hi Rusty
thanks for your response. I tried to open a new thread but couldn't find the link "Open New Thread" I just thought I'd type it into the intro. I have always updated the NAS box to whatever the latest version when it notifies me that there is an update available, but just recently I've had some HDU issues ( 3 WD Red failures one at a time over the last 6 months all with about 6,000 hours on but out of warranty) and started taking a closer look at things and noticed that there are several of the same processes running which although they have different PIDs seemed strange so googled and found this forum and asked the question. but if you say they are all normal and all sleeping even after a reboot then alls well. many thanks mate have a good xmas
Steve
