I have two Synology NAS servers (A and B). I backup data from A to the remote server B once a week using Hyperbackup. Is it somehow possible from server A automatically turn on the remote backup server B before the backup and turn it off again after the backup is finished?

I know it, but I don't know when the backup will end. Sometimes early when there is little added data, sometimes later when the differential data state is large. It would be ideal if on the target backup server B I could use the task scheduler to detect the termination of the backup action started from server A.

I don't have any experience with it, but in Control Panel, under Hardware & Power it looks like if you set up WoL on the remote system, then under HDD Hibernation you can configure a minimum of 10 mins to wait for the drives to go into hibernation and then a minimum of 10 mins of hibernation to trigger a power off. So 20 minutes after the backup is finished the system will auto shutdown.

Sounds like it might work, but it seems it needs his interaction, the way I described is totally automatic. Unless there is something I'm missing and my way won't work. If so, please enlighten me.

DS FINDER can shut down NAS (using Gear in DSM MOBILE)
Once shut down, DS FINDER Using the 3 dots beside the NAS that is Offline, you will see WOL.
Isn’t that what you wanted to do?
But I don't want to turn off the NAS remotely using my mobile. I want one NAS to command the remote NAS to shut down after the backup is finished.

What I posted won't work for you? I think it's as close as you're going to get to accomplishing your goal, unless there's a way to write a script to do it, which is way out of my wheelhouse.

Your idea is very interesting and unconventional. When I have time to test it, I'll try it and post if it works.

I keep thinking about this, having nothing else going on being retired, and the only problem I can foresee would be if HB times out while waiting for the NAS to come on line. If that happens, I would try the task scheduler bootup feature and have it boot the remote 5 or 6 mins ahead of your scheduled backup. It would still go ahead and power off 20 mins after the backup.
