Hi!

Because of internet limitations, I need to run my backup task on certain hours (at night mostly). Any ideas how to suspend task with some kind of schedule, so I would not to have to do it manually every time?

HB allows you to stipulate start time. That's all described in the fine manual. Of course, if you have 2 days worth of data to back up, it will run uninterrupted until completion.

Maybe I don't understand your question.

Problem is that my backup task takes approx. 28 hours to complete, but my destination NAS is on my friend's network and I don't want to take out all of his bandwidth when he is at office on daytime. Normally I would stop manually that task after midnight and resume it on next day at evening. So is there any way to suspend that task, other way than manually? I know it is complicated, but it is only way I could have that much GB backed up.

It sounds that it's the initial backup that you're saying will take 28 hours. How much data will change between between each running of the backup task after this? Probably not so much that it'll take a night.

You have some options:
  1. Create multiple tasks that focus on part backups but each one will not take longer than one night to do the initial upload. After doing the initial uploads on consecutive nights you can schedule all tasks everytime.
  2. Initially do backup(s) to USB disk and send these to your friend. Then create new backup task(s) relink to the transferred data as their targets

Can you locate both NAS on the same LAN... temporarily... until the initial backup is complete?

But if it's only 28 hours... I'd just manually pause it until the initial backup is complete. If you get 6-8 hours at a time, that's only a few days to complete.

Also... IIRC, instead of selecting "remote Synology NAS" in Hyper Backup, you can select "Remote rsync server" which has an option to cap bandwidth.
