Has anyone ever plugged in a USB portable drive into the Synology unit and named that drive and then the name changed next time they plugged it it in?

I use a western digital passport to perform Veeam backups of some systems and when I plug it in it usually pops up as what I named it such as "Veeam"
Been doing it for years no problem,, but past couple times I plugged it in for backups and it renamed itself "Veeam_1" which interferes with the auto backup finding the drive..

Any way to lock the name to the drive on the synology unit?

USB device names are kept in a file, and it happens to me also sometimes (rarely) they get renamed or rearranged on restart and Hyper Backup will complain: " /usr/syno/etc/usbno_guid.map "

Finally I found the box remembers the mapping of USB device serial and USB share number in file

/usr/syno/etc/usbno_guid.map

so

eject all USB drives
switch off the USB drives
telnet to the Synology and rename the file /usr/syno/etc/usbno_guid.map to /usr/syno/etc/usbno_guid.map.old
reboot the NAS
power on the USB drives in order you want to have the usbshare numbers assigned; the system always uses the sequence usbshare1, usbshare2, usbshare3 if the numbers are not already used in that file (wait until current started USB HDD is visible in the USB Disk menu before power on the next USB drive)

telnet to the Synology and...
Useful information but even in 2008 we never used Telnet, only SSH.

Only time I've used Telnet was to connect to ports to see what information a server was advertising:
Bash:
telnet <ip> <port>
telnet <mail server> 25
telnet <web server> 80

Is there a way to do this remotely? there are couple I am not in front of?
