Latest versions of DSM/SRM and packages

Info Latest versions of DSM/SRM and packages

Be aware that Synology are known to release and recall updates, especially in the first few days after release. It is your responsibility when you manually install a update before being notified by Control Panel, Package Center, or CSM.

How do I use this resource?

Overview: A-Z list of items and their latest versions.
Updates: posts of the latest updates, grouped by date.

In the lists the package names link to release notes and the version number links to the download page.

I know there's an update but it's not listed / highlighted?

There are a few reasons why the list may miss an update:
  • The list is automatically generated, anything that has changed from the previous day gets a tag. The tag will be removed the next time the list is updated, so don't rely on the tag too much as I sometimes miss days.
  • The script will find the item's first version listed in the Synology download archive. These lists place the highest version first, down to the smallest version.
  • Usually the latest versions that it finds will be for the latest major OS releases (e.g. of DSM and SRM), so if you are on a previous release you can still check the linked release notes to see if there's an updated package for you too.
The Updates posts will collect the changes since the previous update, even if they don't have a tag. Usually an update will be posted if there is an OS or Package change. For the other types their updates will be included in the next post, unless it is noticed there is a patched major vulnerability.

Why is the list's date different to the release notes?

The list date is from the Download web page and is the build date of the file. The release notes usually have a different date and is when Synology makes the update available. This means that not all latest updates are at the top of the Updates list.

How do I know which updater file to download?

You will have to know the right file to download for your NAS/router. To do this check the download links from your device's Synology Downloads pages to see what they use.
On the Packages tab you can hover your mouse's cursor over a Download button to show the URL. For example, here's the URL for downloading the ABB updater file for the DS920+.
https://global.download.synology.com/download/Package/spk/ActiveBackup/2.3.0-12153/ActiveBackup-x86_64-2.3.0-12153.spk?model=DS920%2B&bays=4&dsm_version=7.0.1&build_number=42218
Notice in the part 'ActiveBackup-x86_64-2.3.0-12153.spk' there is '-x86_64': this is the text you need to look for in other download file names. If you check another download URL you should notice that this text is again present. It is the same process for other NAS models but the text will probably be different.
