Using Safe Access on Synology's SRM with the Threat intelligence database enabled (under Security tab) will block images and avatars on Mastodon.
We have noticed this with these instances (some have been reported by other Mastodon users):
The solution is to add blocked IPs to the exception list (also under Security).
