Guide, how to setup Windows NUT client (incl GUI)
First - How to ENABLE NETWORK UPS SERVER in your NAS (DSM part):
Permitted DiskStation Devices ... use IP addresses of every single device plugged into the UPS which uses the NAS as UPS server, e.g. another NAS, laptop, computer, .....
Don't forget for this step, otherwise, you can't establish the NUT clients connection to the NUT server (your NAS).
-----------------
Windows NUT client deployment
1. You need to save this MSI installer:
click to arrow
2. You will be redirected to a List of current versions - use LATEST:
tested beta (last version) also - works, as expected
LATEST ver is 100% OK
3. Download the: WinNUT-Setup.msi
4. Install the: WinNUT-Setup.msi
5. SETUP of the WinNUT client
NUT host: IP of your NAS, where is running the 'Network UPS server' ...explained below
NUT Port: leave 3493
UPS Name: ups
Polling interval: 1
Login and Password: two possible options:
a) default login is: monuser
b) default password is: secret
or
c) when you did customisation defined in this thread you will find these credentials in
/usr/syno/etc/ups/upsd.users ...... use:
or vi and scroll to the bottom and find:
password = somepsw ..... then password is "somepsw"
upsmon something ....... then login is "something"
Note: I found, that some default login is also: upsmon .... test it, when necessary (seems to be Synology can't use standardization).
Finish this Setup part by APPLY button. Don't touch Calibration (when you don't understand what to do).
The next Setup stage is - Miscellaneous:
this is my preffered setup. Use APPLY button.
The next Setup stage is - Shutdown options:
this is my preffered setup. Use APPLY button.
Done.
Use OK button.
So, just restart the App and all is done NOW.
Edit:
several corrections (doesn't have impact to the guide)
