Hi guys, first of all I'm not sure this is the right forum for the question. In case please move the topic to the correct location.

I have just purchased a DS1821+ and wondering if it make sense to add the 10Gb network card. I own a 2019 i9 Macbook Pro which, as anybody knows, have no rj45 connections. To plug in a ethernet cable I need to buy a USBC/Thunderbolt adapter.

The question is: do you think it support the 10Gb ethernet connection?

Because my home network is CAT6 (real copper 100%) and I'm evaluating the possibility to upgrade to 10Gb.

Thanks,
Francesco

What? Mac or 1821?

Mac 2019 has TB up to 40Gb/s support, so using a TB 10G adapter will work just fine. Something like OWC Thunderbolt 3 10G device.

As for 1821, it has a single Gen3 x8 slot (x4 link) PCI slot that you can use with any number of Syno cards:

E10G21-F2
E10G18-T2
E10G18-T1
