For what? Without 10GbE devices to connect it to then yes it would be overkill. But it’s your money. Dual 10GbE would give resilience if you need it.

You need to look at how you are using the NAS and the the clients it is serving.

Just remember that the DSM partition and the swap partition are mirrored across all drives. This means that changes to either of those partitions will happen only as fast as the slowest Drive in your NAS.

Hence your SSD pool will not perform to its fullest ability.

But even worse than this, in SSD pool that resides on a DX unit will be quite hamstrung in all ways due to the limited bandwidth available between the DS and a DX.
