Put the drives in 920, boot it up and then use the reset process on the back of the unit to do a factory reset.Hi all, I have an old 412+ and want to swap the drives into a new 920+ I do not want to migrate, I want to set it up as new but using the files on the old drives.
Is this a thing?
Thanks in advance.
Also is it method 1 or 2 in this guide?Put the drives in 920, boot it up and then use the reset process on the back of the unit to do a factory reset.
This will retain your data but will set the nas in a default mode when it comes to DSM and it’s settings.
No. Not sure why you want to start fresh considering that migration will update to your current NAS and continue on.Before I do is there any advantage to scrubbing the drives and starting from scratch, I have backups
