FWIW Shared Folder Sync is connected and I'm not seeing "sonesta" after ten minutes of a stat refresh on Adguard Home.
I'm not sure of the intricacies that brought this about, but a few years ago I connected my Linksys wireless router to an in-room wired LAN connector so I could have some decent bandwidth. I remember that getting my devices to authenticate with the hotel network through the Linksys took some trial and error. I'm guessing somewhere in the process my router got ID'd as a Sonesta.com device (I don't see that in any user-controlled settings) but I recall seeing "sonesta.com" when I logged into the router.
Since that day, many of my devices have changed. However, about a year ago I had a failing router, and I grabbed the Linksys to handle things until the new router arrived. Again I'm guessing, but I expect that by some means the Synology NAS obtained the "sonesta.com" domain from the Linksys router. I have no real clue about that.
Periodically I've seen "sonesta" appear in logs, but trying to ID the source was never something I undertook until Adguard Home started giving me all its connect info. When I realized that "sonesta" was appearing hundreds of times I the course of a day, I came here hoping for insight.
Y'all are amazing. Thanks so much. I hope this is gone, but something worries me that "sonesta" lies implanted in my current router. Right now one NAS is running with manually ascribed DNS settings, and the other is looking at the router.
A round of cookies for y'all...
