ABB for my Windows 11 laptop was working/backing up till Feb/6 this year.
Since then it has been failing - and when I try and make changes on DSM its says "The Device xx is offline"
Though clearly on my Windows11 its present.
I've checked the firewall rules, and its allowed to run on my private network.
I've even disabled the firewall (private network) and then tried checking for it and not working, and then re-enabled it
There is a thread about it here, Synology Community
which says check client version and SSL certificate - but can't figure out how to do that.
The windows11 client seems to be working OK, responds as running when invoked, but doesn't have a UI to check.
Anybody else seeing this or have suggestions?. Many thanks.

Have you a pending update for the abb won client? Due to abb server side updated?

Have you tried to reinstall the abb client?

Things to try:
  • Edit the connection in the ABB client and re-save. This will fix the issue if you are using a SSL certificate that doesn’t cover the server name you use, and either it has been renewed since setting up the client.
  • Log off the client, which requires a DSM/ABB admin to authorise. Then reconnect.
  • Check your certificate assigned to ABB server.

many thanks for the suggestions. I had been trying to do the updates for my NAS and hadn't worked.
On Win11 I did the upgrade to ABB client
Upgraded to -2.6.3-3101 ~ Synology Active Backup for Business Agent-2.6.3-3101-x64.msi
from 2.4.2341 2022-10-15
and then a reboot.
SABB- is running
but didn't work.

I edited the connection in the ABB client for time and then re-saved. Still says "The device is offline"

Maybe I should try removing the ABB client altogether, reboot and then try a reinstall. Will do it tomorrow.

@neilh20 do you see your device in DSM ABB manger under PC/Mac, windows tab? If so does it list an IP address there? Does that match your win11 device ip?

@Gerard thanks - yes the PC shows the \\win11_device name - but not IP#

It seems I haven't got the hang of certificates - and that resulted in the win11_devices not connecting to the DSM, and hence no backup, and no warnings/alarms/status on the win11_devices - just notifications from the DSM of not completing backup.
I keep a diary of "Network Setup" and I found that I had tried myddns settings on the same date the ABB stopped backing up, and I hadn't realized it.

What worked for me:
On my Win11_device I uninstalled the ABB, rebooted and then reinstalled
Synology Active Backup for Business Agent-2.6.3-3101-x64.msi
and the interface was very different on the install (than the update), stepping me through setting up the connection with my fixed IP NAS DSM
So at the core, its the Win11_device that establishes the connection to the NAS, and the certificates settings have to be the same.
On DSM .ControlPanel.Security.Certificate I had already created a Synology.Com ABB.
I went to DSM PackageCenter. ABB.. open. settings. certificate and then for Dedicated Certificate clicked enable

Thanks @Telos for the suggestion - I had been using an older Acronis as my third backup method so be interesting to look at veeam.
