I am trying to get this to work without much success. I have two computers hooked up to it and both made backups for a while but then both stopped. I get an email every day stating that
"The following tasks on SynologyDS218 have missed their scheduled backups because the backup sources were disconnected from Active Backup for Business".
As far as I can tell, however, everything is online and connected. How should I confirm that?

In addition, if I go to ABB and list tasks I get several options (e.g., edit, delete, backup...). I can edit the tasks but the "backup" option is grayed out. If I mouse over the backup option I get the message
"Cannot backup because the device is offline or the version of the agent is outdated."
As far as I can tell the devices are online and the ABB agent is up to date. If I go to the main menu and mouse over the ABB agent it says "running".

I have looked at some of the help documents but I haven't found anything that really gives a good description of how to set up the ABB so I don't know if I am even on the right track.
Any help would be appreciated!

Can you check the setup in each agent. Specifically, use the Edit Connection and resave it. I’m wondering if it is a SSL certificate issue.

By "agent" do you mean "task"? I can edit the task schedule and save it, and the new "next backup time" shows up correctly.

No I mean agent, as in the ABB agent that is installed on your PC/Macs. If I click on the ABB agent's icon in Mac then I get a menu like this...

I think it's similar in Windows. When you select Edit connection it will show a window and you can change the Server address, but the login/password are greyed out. Without changing anything, click OK and see if it asks about trusting the connection. If it does then the SSL certificate doesn't cover what you put for server address. You can also check what the certificate is in the ABB server in DSM, and going to the Settings tab. There's some help there too.

It may not be the certificate but it's a good place to start looking :)

Ok, I can bring up the agent and there is an internet error but I don't see any icons or other options - nothing that lets me set or change the connection. There is a "recovery portal" button but clicking on that just repeats the error message. (I'm using Windows11).

I do see one thing that is odd - it says the server address is x.x.x.47. By "server" does it mean NAS? Because my NAS address is x.x.x.48 - I don't have anything (as far as I can tell) at x.x.x.47.

The menu that @fredbert posted should be inside the system tray on Win 11 (bottom right corner next to the clock). Right click the icon and you should see the same settings.

That might be an issue for sure. That IP is the actual IP of the ABB server/NAS. Is your NAS on its own static LAN IP (check inside DSM Control Panel > Network > Interface etc...)? If not, consider doing that in order to prevent the NAS "traveling" along your LAN.
