access for other users from their computers

Hi new guy to the NAS world. Too much of the info is way too technical for me. I just wanted to a storage device that everyone in the house can access. I can't find instructions in the knowledge base that spells this out. I guess it could be as simple as giving everyone the password but I thought other ways might be more helpful to them.

I'd suggest to solve this by creating separate users for each person in the housel. These users should NOT have admin rights, but user rights.
And yes you can give them a password then. If user/pw is the same as windows, logon is easier.
Then you have to think about access. Do they need a private part for their own documents? Then create home folders while creating the user. Shared documents are typically under public and photo.

Don't forget to setup some kind of backup for the device, and run the security advisor tool to see if the devices is setup with minimum security standards.

Why? Simply activate homes service, and Synology will do that automagically.

yes, not a very clear post,,,, you are right it is a setting under User/advanced for all users at the same time.
