If I have a DS918 setup at my office, and one of the shared folders has guest access, why when I browse network and see the DS918, I still have to enter credentials to see the shared folders? Should I be able to see the open guest share without entering credentials? Is that a setting, or is that just the way it works? (TIA)

edit: this is all in a Windows 10 environment

IIRC, Guest logs in with an empty password. But Windows credentials manager is finicky about having multiple login credentials for the same address. Maybe your regular SMB credential is still active.

I dont know, needing to enter any credentials defeats my purpose of having that guest folder share...? at home it doesnt matter, but at the office I wanted to give people the ability to connect and gain access to files I am allowing them to access, but I noticed by clicking on NASNAME in network (win10) it immediately asks for credentials....? I thought I did something wrong, having to enter anything to gain access to that folder defeats it purpose for me.

Is there a way for me to make a shared guest folder that would not require entering credentials? Obviously I am not looking to give tech/network support to anyone trying to grab those files while on my wifi.
