Alrighty everyone, I am missing something. I can't seem to make this work:
I can reach my Synology NAS DS1817+ remotely, through DDNS, but I can't seem to map volumes as (network)drives on Windows 10 like I can on OSX with SMB. I also tried another option, which is using FTP but the file transfer speed is incredibly low.

Any ideas, suggestions and help will be highly appriciated!

I use at the moment the following settings:
Volumes / Users:
Volume 1 / shared folder / Media1 \ can only be accessed by user1 and admin (for ftp)
Volume 2 / shared folder / Media2 \ can only be accessed by user1 and admin (for ftp)
Volume 3 / shared folder / Media3 \ admin only (I dont want to acces these remotely)
Volume 4 / shared folder / web \ website
Volume 5 / shared folder / homes
Volume 6 / shared folder / other1 \ can only be accessed by user1 and admin (for ftp)
Volume 7 / shared folder / other2 \ admin only (I dont want to acces these remotely)
Volume 8 / shared folder / other3 \ admin only (I dont want to acces these remotely)

SMB settings:
WORKGROUP (unchanged)
Enabled Tranfer Log

SMB3
SMB2 and large MTU
Transport encryption mode (disable)
Enabled opportunistic locking
Enabled SMB2 lease
Enabled SMB durable handles (cross-protocol file locking will be disabled)

Remotely settings:
server.domain.com (DDNS)*
Quickconnect is also enabled

* When trying to make a connection with a network location it keeps saying '' The folder that you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another.''

I tried for instance:
smb://server.domain.com/(volume name) or (shared folder name) or (user name)
\\server.domain.com\(volume name) or (shared folder name) or (user name)
