Hi.
I just start playing with NAS device DS220+ which supports Active Backup.
First impression is very good.
So far I have tested how to make a backup and bare metal restore of VM on Hyper-v, that went well.
I did have some "hiccups" in instant restore scenario, but I just need to run some more test.
I have a question about having an offline backup to external USB drive.
Is that even possible?
The idea is to have a primary backup repository on DS 220+ NAS Synology device, then manually rotate 2 or maybe 3 external USB disk drives, where we could store a copy if NAS or disks inside NAS ever dies.
I saw that you can do snapshot replication to another NAS device, but that doesnt seem secure to me in case of a network breach (you could get infection on both nas since they are online).
I also saw an option to store backup copy to some cloud services, but still curious about option to store backup copy to USB external drive connected to NAS. So, is it possible?
Thank you.
With best regards
