I created a new backup Task in ABB to back up my Mac. Initially unchecked the option to "Back up external hard drive" in the Task Settings. Once I saw ABB had completed its initial backups successfully, I selected "Back up external hard drive" so that my external HD would be included in the next backup. I was not included, however.

Is there a setting I can select to include external HDs in ABB backups?

Well in the follow-up backup process, it should back up your external devices (works for me). If that fails, try and make a new task, same backup destination but this time select the template that includes external unit(s) and see if that will make it backup.

Thanks for your reply. I did what you suggested and I believed it may have backed up the external HD but I have not seen it listed under the Volumes dropdown. This morning I found this stating the external HD must be formatted as APFS,

"Customized volume: Click Select then choose the target volume you wish to protect. Floppy drives, thumb drives, and external hard drives formatted as APFS are supported."

My external HDs are HFS+ format. That's probably why they're being skipped by ABB for Mac.
