This question is for future knowledge. Have had my NAS DS920+ for a couple of days and with the help of a few members here, I now have my PC backing up to the nas on the fly!

Currently my DS920 has 2, 4tb iron claw drives which the second is mirroring the first using SHR, "Think that's the default setup." I only backup my PC and phone right now. If later I need more storage, is it as easy as just sliding in 1 or two more drive? Also do they need to be the same size. right now I have .3.45tb. If I put another 4tb drive in slot 3, I'll have around 7tb??

Forgive me as I'm looking at videos trying to absorb al I can. TIA

Yes, you can just add a new drive into a free bay and then expand the storage pool.

All the other help on storage is available via this link. The disk needs to be the same size or larger: if larger its bigger size will only become available when you have two drives of this new size.

Correct in all accounts.

Shr volume expansion will require you to use same or larger capacity drives based on your current largest drive in the array.

So you can’t expand with smaller ones, just same or larger ones.

Edit: damn it @fredbert we need a ticketing system here haha
