Hi folks,

New synology user here. As a long-time google drive user, I've become accustomed to having "mapped" drives being constantly available across all networks, and having the ability to choose which folders/files to make available locally offline. Another convenience is that one can add large files to the local instance of the mapped drive and have them upload over time, being robust to network interruptions, machine restarts, etc.

Is there a client/server setup between windows 10 & a DS1819+ that would enable such functionality? Super new to the synology world, so please forgive the newbie question.

Many thanks in advance!

You can map drives with Synology Assistant, or via Windows's network mapping wizard in File Explorer.

Personally I prefer a shortcut to my NAS which covers all available shares.

I haven't had good luck mapping drives, and I've discussed it before on here. I can get the drives to map in Windows, but they frequently disconnect and then you need to re-map them. I'm hoping this thread offers up other options.

Try this... Right-click on Windows Desktop... select New/Shortcut. In the address box enter either

\\nasname
or
\\nasipaddress

Ignore the Browse button... Click Next… and Finish

thanks all. yes, synology drive is it! very cool, just what i was hoping for. thanks again!
