To my knowledge, it’s about the same. It just saves a USB port, if you need it. Unlikely, since Synology screwed us up with the new ports limitation in DSM 7 🙁
If the price difference is not big, get one with all the options, otherwise USB 3 is good enough. I’m using this with a 216+II that has one USB 3 port.
