I have decided to just put 3 new drives into my new DS920+ rather than moving the old ones over. That old nas and drives will be sold or repurposed. Is it necessary to do a Extended SAMT test on 3 brand new Ironwolf 4TB drives (ST4000VN008) before installing the? I have a workstation set up to do this if needed. Or is whatever testing the Synology does at install sufficient? I had heard that brand new NAS drives sometimes have issues.
