A NAS is a very poor choice for a surveillance solution. Just because you can hook up a few cameras and you can see what is displayed, does not mean you will have a reliable playback without lost frames. Usually NAS drives are selected for read write primarily while Surveillance drives focus mostly on writing. The NAS processor cannot handle the continuous stream of more than a couple cameras. That is what Network Video Recorders are for.

If you insist on using a NAS for this, dedicate one whole NAS or at least a group of hard drives for the cameras only and use Western Digital Purple or Seagate Surveillance drives. Maybe you stated these things in the video, I did not watch it because I only use NVRs for this. Having said all of that, I think it is great that you take time to explain the option.
