Can I backup my NAS to a directly-attached SSD?

I'm a new home-based NAS user (Synology DS224+). I understand that there are cloud-based backup methods, but I'm wondering if it's possible for me to USB-plug an SSD into the DS224+ and send the backup to that. If 'yes', please direct me to instructions. Thanks.

You can use HyperBackup package to make it happen. The HB tool is the official DSM package that is used to backup data that already lives on the NAS, and it can target cloud destination, local and remote NAS devices, as well as compatible DAS.

Use the Synology KB article on the topic of Hyper Backup and once you start using it, a friendly wizard will guide you along.

When selecting a local shared folder or USB as the destination, you can decide to store multiple versions or only one version of your backup data in the destination.
