Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I have a DS216J NAS. Basically for some reason I know not, I can access DSM just fine so I know that the domain name, web address, user name and PW are correct. I have synology drive server installed on the the NAS. But if I use the same info in Synology Drive Client it just says "Connection Failed" and there is precious little help in the relevant link.

I have not had this problem before and have little knowledge about what could be wrong. Can anyone help here?

Which Drive client? Mobile app or desktop OS.

If it's the desktop OS client then that doesn't use Web services (i.e. based on HTTP/HTTPS). You need to forward TCP port 6690 from your router to the NAS. Or you can try QuickConnect, if that doesn't work you can try enabling use of its Relay service.

Thanks so much for replying. Yes it is a win 11 desktop. I have tried also quickconnect via synology drive client but get the same error message "Connection failed". Strange because I use exactly the same log in credentials for synology drive client as I do when I use a browser to get to the NAS on the web (including quickconnect on the web which both connect just fine). This why I hate to ask for help as I have no idea how to do basic things like export a TCP port and will have to google that. I have not had to visit this router before - sounds like fun - not. Willing to give it a go though. The least I can do since you took the time to help me.:(

OK - please don't waste any more time on this issue. I have found that my wife also can no longer connect to the NAS from her desktop. The NAS has worked perfectly for the better part of 3-4 years. The problem can't lie in the config of the synology drive client and I don't think it could be anything to do with the router.

I have discovered that the NAS had suffered a shutdown after a power failure here a couple of days ago. I went through the recommended steps for a paper-clip reset but to no avail. I can't really waste any more time on fixing the NAS due to a family-based illness that is taking up a lot of our energies. We now have a very simple comms setup here and don't really need the NAS any more. I have decided to switch to MS One Drive as well as backing up to an external HD.

Thanks anyway.

Ugh! Hope you can recover what you need.

Best wishes, and hope your situation improves.

Ah, yes that would do it. You were going out to the Internet and back to the router.
