Hi,
I own a DS414j, and I installed synology office under DSM6. Then I decided to update to DSM 7 then 7.1 to realise Synology office was not supported on my NAS. Problem is, I still possess a certain amount of syno-office files on my drive that I can see, but can't download, can't preview, can't open. And I need the infos inside for my work.

Please help 👏

Correct. As the note in small font is stating on the Office package link - Synology Office - Add-on Packages | Synology Inc.

From DSM 7.1 onwards, new installations of Synology Office are not supported on DS114, DS115j, DS213j, RS214, DS214se, DS414slim, DS414j, and DS216se devices.

Atm, you have several options. Export the files and open them inside a working office setup (on a NAS that support it), or downgrade DSM back to DSM6. Be careful with the second option as it is not officially supported! This is the last option that you should do and considered as a last resort.

It would be best to get to a working NAS with working office installation and convert the file there to a standard MS Office format so you can access them.

Another way would be to get a more up-to-date device also, but guess that will be up to you.

I don't believe this will work, as the "files" are simply shortcut pointers to a database that manages the content, IIRC. I don't see any means of recovery short of possibly rolling back DSM, and restoring from HB backups (if any). Best of luck.

Hi,
Thanks for your advices. Since I don't know anyone with another synology, I think I'll just have to sit on it and remake everything. (and I don't have enough money to buy another one ).
Thanks anyway.
