I have a 8 x 6TB drive SHR Raid 6 volume that is extremely slow with its "checking parity". Is there a way to make it go faster? It was my plex server but I am prepared to not have any services in order to quicken this process

Welcome @epicurean,
1. is the Plex for home usage?
2. why you choose SHR2 for the Plex? because the SHR2 is slow from RAID6 based principles.
3. 8x6TB in your DS411+ (4bays) or did you bought new one?

1)Yes, the Plex is for home usage only. I do not even expose to externally.
2) Hindsight is 20/20. I should have chosen other options.

still is missing answer for the 3rd question: 8x6TB vs your 4bays NAS
