Hi all. Here is the situation.

Intent
:
Copy all files from an old DS918+ (4-bay) to a new DS224+ (2-bay).
The DS224+ will become my primary NAS and I'll keep the old DS918+ sync'd as a backup.

Hardware:
DS918+: 4 x 4TB, SHR, Btrfs, single storage pool, 6TB used of 8.7TB.
DS224+: 2 x 8TB, SHR, Btrfs, single storage pool, 7TB available.

DS918+ Content:
Video files in a single shared folder. (Jellyfin sub-folder structure). No other folder. No other files.

Two questions:

1) How to copy...
I'm not sure how to proceed. The only method I'm sure of is a very slow PC SMB copy from one NAS to the other.
Maybe a File Station remote mount would be better?

2) How to sync afterwards...
The DS224+ will sync that video folder to the old DS918+. The DS918+ will never be accessed otherwise unless there is a DS224+ meltdown.
Should I use Synology Drive Sync or something similar to perform that ongoing video folder sync?

Thanks in advance.

Run Shared Folder Sync over the network from your source unit to copy your shared folder content.

Have you thought of using the
DS918+ as a Hyper backup target? You can then restore any file or the whole 224 including the jellyfish metadata when needed.
Syncing means that If you make a mistake on your 224+ then that will be synced to the 918+ and you won't be able to recover.
