I have a DS224+ with a couple of IronWolf Pro 12Tb drives in Raid1 (if it really matters!).

Something is continually causing the drives to run. Not much, not like I'm doing a heavy read or write, but 1/2 second movement. The noise isn't annoying, but I'm trying to understand why, when I am not doing anything, why the drives are moving at all.

Is there somewhere in the console where I can see what's running and what's using resources?

What services do you have up and running? The System Monitor app will give you some idea as well as htop command line.

I have the same problem. the drives are running at full speed, the throttling is quite unpleasant, there is no user activity and the LEDs of the network cards are flashing at full speed. No data scrubbing or defragmentation has been started, it has been going on for a week, there is no information about the current status in the Storage Manager interface, and I have no anomalies in the logs. I also increased the cooling revolutions but it didn't help, I restarted, I also turned it off for a couple of hours and after turning it on the same thing.

Short of a bare-bones installation, hibernation is unlikely and should not be expected. A NAS is a 24/7 appliance.

Good to start with the synology diagnostics as Rusty suggested.

It may be something on the LAN and it is worth a check:
Pull the ethernet cable(s). Wait for a minute and see if noise disappears. We have seen strange issues with devices on the network trying to access the NAS all the time, like multicasting devices.
In case the noise disappears, put back the network cable(s) and your real work starts: pull the plug from all other devices to find the source :-)

Hi, even after disconnecting all the cables, the discs still write. No scrubbing or defragmentation is running. I have a lot of devices on the network, but the switch to which synology is connected via 4 LAN cables does not register any activity from the local network. The device is not exposed to the Internet. I have enough experience with network elements and activities and I wouldn't be writing here if I hadn't already tried everything. But thank you.
