I want to supply a public link (on a website) to a PDF file on my DS920+, and then count the number of downloads so I can pay the creator for the number I distribute. Sharing a link created in File Station allows me to choose how long the download is available and even how many downloads to allow. But I don't see how to count an unknown (open number) of downloads. Can this be done? Thank you.

Solution
I had to install ProjectSend in a container for some files that I needed to keep track of the downloads count.
I hope there is an easier way (though I found ProjectSend quite helpful at the end) so I follow this thread.

Thank you for this suggestion. Following guides by Mariushosting I installed Container Manager, Portainer, and ProjectSend. So far this works perfectly for me from inside my home network, but anyone outside my network gets a blank page and a time out. I have DDNS set up, a Lets Encrypt SSL certificate assigned to the Synology domain (hostname). I am completely new to this and am learning by following online guides. Any further suggestions? Thanks.

I just spent over an hour online with Marius from Marius Hosting (in Romania). He helped me resolve all the issues. It now works perfectly. So your suggestion about Projectsend has been a real help. Thanks so much.

Glad you figured it out.
I have not used his guide though for this project, so I couldn't have an opinion about what could be the problem.
