Well I figured out why I can't get synology.me to connect to my NAS. I confirmed Cox blocks port 80 inbound. Tried forwarding just port 443 as they leave that one open in both directions(according to online research). But that didn't work either.

The other issue with the Linksys WDW030 router remains that once I do port forward either 80 or 443 I lose connectivity to the routers admin page via browser. Can still get to it via the app on my phone, but this is not ideal.

Any ideas on how I might get this Wordpress hosting working short of changing ISP's. My only other option is AT&T and I can't do DSL. Somehow Quickconnect still works with File Station. I was going to also set up video station, photos and drive for use while away from home. Will all those work with just Quickconnect?

Hi,

Did you try the URL in the browser (to access your NAS) using https (not http).

If it’s not working, are you sure you’re forwarding 443 correctly? Assuming your DSM is configured to use 443 otherwise 443 is used by WebStation if it’s installed.
Do you have the firewall enabled on your NAS?

Try checking with a tool like you get signal or something similar.

The site canyouseem.org is also great for testing your port forwards to see if it’s opened. My isp blocked 80 as well, I called them and they manually opened it up. I now control it on my router and enable it when i need it.

Despite 80 being blocked, 443 should work the two are not tied to each other.

I wonder if that's it. Webstation conflicting with something. Do I really need Webstation to host Wordpress if I'm using a synology.me address? Or maybe I do need it to set up the Reverse Proxy.

I’m running a website but I’m not using Wordpress, so I don’t know much about it. However, I believe that you need Web Station as it configures the backend web servers (e.g. Apache or Nginx) plus other things.

The reverse proxy is configured separately even if you don’t have Web Station installed.

Unless you changed it, DSM uses ports 5000 and 5001. With DSM 7, it should be under Control Panel > Login Portal.
