Screenshots frm Storage Manager would be helpful.
i have three 3tb drives in one has gone bad. the spare one i created another storage pool not sure if it was the right thing now ? the middle drive is amber on my gas so im assuming that's the bad one ?That will probably where your education will begin!
Welcome!
If your data is not backed up in some way or other…, Make copies now.
This way — if you learn ‘by mistake’, your data is copied elsewhere.
Thank you for the reply I will have a look into this later today after workYou could add that spare drive in place of the failed one, and the array will be rebuilt. Still, having a backup of your data before you rebuild is welcome just in case.
What you have done now is created a second storage pool using that spare drive. You can use now File Station to selectively copy data from one volume to the second one.
If you want to move all data you can also use Control Panel > Shared Folders and relocate the location of the folder(s) from one volume to the next.
Once the data is on the spare drive, you will need a new drive to replace the failed one in bay 1. Using Storage manager you can follow the process of replacement and leave the array to rebuild itself.
You can yes, but the data on that drive will be wiped before entering the initial pool. Also it will be wiped with data that is part of your initial volume. You will be rebuilding the volume, but keep in mind that rebuild could still go wrong at any point, so having a backup would be good.Could I remove the second pool and then add it to the first pool ?
So it’s better to just copy files to volume 2 until I can afford to replace the failed drive. You can yes, but the data on that drive will be wiped before entering the initial pool. That's uncertain as Storage Manager states the the pool needs to be recreated... And there is no repair link offered. You could add that spare drive in place of the failed one, and the array will be rebuilt
You are absolutely correct, I have missed the fact that the image was reporting that kind of an error. That's uncertain as Storage Manager states the the pool needs to be recreated... And there is no repair link offered.
how do you relocate or copy the folders please. You could add that spare drive in place of the failed one, and the array will be rebuilt. Still, having a backup of your data before you rebuild is welcome just in case.
