Hi :)

I have a DS920+ that works properly when I am in the office.

Now, due to Home office I need to use it remotely using OpenVPN.

I noticed that the connection is really slow when navigating through the NAS folders. Opening a small illustrator file it takes quite long.

What can be the issue? At home I have 10GB internet. At work unfortunately not.

I use OpenVPN connect for MacOS.

VPN in general will do compression. So on top of you WAN speed (internet), and in this case your UPLOAD speed, you might get performance problems.

So 1st thing can you share what is your Internet speed (up/down) on both locations? Do you really have a 10G Internet speed or is this LAN speed?

If you are using a cable modem, the upload speed is MUCH slower then the download speed. This could be the problem. I use VPN routers with L2TP and get uploading slowness due to the slow upload speed of my cable provider.

Everything else that I have asked you. This could be a cap at work. Maybe network team is controlling...
