Can the DS418 do Bare Metal backup and restore? I have the vanilla Value version (not 'play' or 'j' or '+').

Of what? Using what?

Instead of looking in the device data you can check compatibility on a package's pages.

BMR of the other PCs in my home network. I would like to be able to create a total restore image via the NAS. This, as opposed to carrying around a USB external drive to each system.

I have looked at the Synology info and the DMR info implies that the OS will do it, but I cannot find a compatibility list for anything other than devices that would be part of the NAS itself (disks, NICs, memory).
