Do I need to enable firewall on DSM 7?

We have punched holes in our Sonicwall NSA to connect with a remote NAS for

1. Shared Drive Sync

2. Remote Snapshot Replication

Ports open are

5000
5001
5566
6690

From many articles they say its best to enable the firewall on the Synology NAS.

If I do enable them,

1. Do I need to create any custom rules for the above ports? How?

2.Are there any generic rules to create to secure the NAS?

I don’t know much about Sonicwall but can’t you create rules on it? If it’s not possible and you’ve simply forwarded ports like a stock gateway router then it’s better to enable the Synology firewall.

The forum discussed this in an old thread. You might find it useful.
Please help me understand making my NAS secure.

You can also check @NAS Newbie’s resource about reverse proxies and general security recommendation.

I haven't touched a Sonicwall in years - that said, I would probably enable the DSM firewall as you can then setup IP restrictions for increased security. You would be better of implementing port redirection as well.

You are right. I think I'm getting this error because I can't allow cloudflared.
