RT2600ac Does a VLAN Primer exist?

Now that V1.3.1 is about to come out for older routers, I find myself realizing that I don’t know a darn thing about VLANS. (I’m self taught).

Does such a thing, a primer on VLANS…. Exist for the novice?

I’m hoping that something like that, along with a printout for V1.3.1 manual might be good reading and food for thought!

Thanks Rusty! I see Info Starting at page 29.

For us new people who have heard of VLAN, but nothing else, is there any other good additional information on this subject, possibly with step by step examples, to read an understand the basic premise of VLAN ?

Hello,
I install SRM 1.3 this morning, all look good.
So i try to implement VLAN 1 (port 1 and 2) for primary, VLAN 10 (port3 ) for WORK and VLAN 20 for IOT (port4)
(port 2 must be assign to primary VLAN)

I got only one managed switch, port 1-8 for VLAN20 and 9-24 for VLAN1 - for the moment i remove VLAN10
On VLAN20 i configure port 1-8 untagged and others forbidden
On VLAN1 i configure port 9-24 untagged and others forbidden

When i connect 2 cables from SRM to switch ... DNS are down
I didn't understand what i missing ?

An idea?

Which DNS, from where?

• Can the router access Internet DNS?
• On VLAN 1, what DNS servers are used by devices on this subnet?
• On VLAN 20, what DNS servers are used by devices on this subnet?
• Can different VLANs access either other via the router? What's the firewall policy

Have you tried using tagged ports instead of untagged?
