I finally managed to install USBCopy to try and copy over my data directories over USB 3 to a 3TB external drive but the speed of copy is ridiculously slow. We're talking about a 5mb jpeg taking 15 to 20 seconds to copy to the external drive. I have around 1TB of data approx and at this rate it feels I'll still be doing this next year!
I'm now getting to the stage where I simply want to send this thing back and get my data out and over to my USB drive. I figure that I will need to format my 4TB IronWolf HD if I'm going to use it in another NAS, so at that point, all my data will go up in smoke anyway.
My USB drive is formatted EXFat - not sure if that's the best format but every now and then, I been getting warnings saying that the USB drive is now 'read only' and copying more may corrupt the files. There seems to be no evidence that this is happening but it is worrying!
What's the quickest way to copy my data directories to my USB drive?
