Hello,

I have a DS918+ with 4x4TB WD40EFRX-68N32N0 in SHR (10,9TB) 1 volume, and I want to change to Btrfs in DSM 7.2 update 1.
After a clean in my data of multimedia folder (movies and series) I have 13% off disk capacity (9.3TB free), read various ways to covert, and I want your opinion, to do this secure.
I can backup with hyperbackup the entire system and restore ?
Tks

yes, I read that, but I can backup the entire system or only :
  • Data in Shared Folder stored in the ext4 volume.
  • Settings and packages in Package Center stored in the ext4 volume.
sorry if my question is stupid...

As stated in the linked procedure...

Back up the data on the ext4 volume

Using Hyper Backup is highly recommended to back up data in File Station and Package Center.1
  • Data in Shared Folder stored in the ext4 volume.
  • Settings and packages in Package Center stored in the ext4 volume.
Hence, back-up per your bulleted points in your post.

Be aware that 3rd party packages are not supported (see note 1 in the linked procedure).
