Ds918+ issue connecting via wifi

Ds918+
Hey guys,
I'm having issues connecting via wifi to the ds918+.
I can connect to shared folders via windows explorer in Windows 10 and via lan up address no problems when connected to Ethernet.
When connected to wifi I can connect with ip but can't connect to shared folders in file explorer.

Synology sits behind a netgear unmanaged switch that goes back to modem/router. Ds918+ has a static up address.
I have tried following guides in regards to Sms v1 but hasn't worked. Sometimes a reboot of server or computer will fix the issue until next time.
Connection to server via apps work on network or outside network.

Hope someone can help me.
Thanks

Hello.
I dont have your model.

Your shared folders must work either in wifi or ethernet, you must setup and review your settings properly.

Check your router and folders configuration in your NAS (shared folders).

I saw you have also static ip (NAS), this is recommended for shared folders, etc.
Your problem must be configuration.

welcome @cwalkin,
please try to describe detailed information about your issue:
1. how is the NAS connected to WiFi (USB dongle HW). Vendor, model. Do you have a Linux drivers?
2. did you tried use the HW with laptop or PC independently (just to be sure)?

Hi there,
The nas is connected via lan, not wifi.
The 2 windows 10 Laptops connect with wifi.

@cwalkin how do your Control Panel > File services > Advanced > SSDP/WS-Discovery settings look like? On or off? If they are off try and activate them both and then access your nas.

From what you are saying here my guess would be that your dhcp is causing the problem. If your router is leasing out lan address it might be another idea to reserve them (if possible) on the DHCP side or also set them as static on your client-side as well.

Just to be sure the “server” title is title for the NAS?
Checklist:
1. Your Ethernet & WiFi LAN is based on same subnet (single logical network range, e.g. 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255). Y/N?

2. Connection from Synology Smart Aps (iOS, Android) to the NAS in Local network is OK? Y/N

3. The Ethernet connection from your Win10 based laptops to NAS is correct:
- by HTTP/S from any browser (LAN IP). Y/N?
- by Win Explorer you can connect directly to NAS and see all NAS Shared folders. Y/N?

3. Then just laptops with Win10 connected to LAN by WiFi doesn’t work. Y/N?
- by HTTP/S from any browser (LAN IP). Y/N?
- by Win Explorer you can connect directly to NAS. Y/N?
- you can’t the NAS Shared folders, just NAS. Y/N?

1: Yes with Nas having static
2:Yes all apps connect on lan or via cellular
3.If laptop is plugged in with ethernet there is no problem either connecting via static ip or win explorer shared folder on Nas

I have enabled smb v1 , turned router firewall off and added ip and mac to static lease on router.
I'm thinking of resetting dsm

Thanks for everyones help

Dont reset dsm.
The problem you have is in my opinion signal strenght and configurations.

What is the distance from wifi devices to router?
Can you test wifi near your router?

See what @jeyare said.
Are PCs on the same lan?, etc

See this link if it help you:

@cwalkin, so just send me last point check (accidentaly as point 3), for sure posted again:

Just try these steps for the laptop conected to NAS by WiFi:
- by HTTP/S from any browser (LAN IP). Works Y/N?
- by Win Explorer you can connect directly to NAS. Y/N?
By the Win Explorer you can’t see the NAS Shared folders, just NAS. Y/N?

Then check pls. the @Rusty recommendation.
Then I will send you - how to.

@notrui - wait a second, to finishing an evaluation

All sorted, turned out to be a modem/router issue.

Thanks again
Ok.
Normaly when i change many things (or something is not working well) in my main router, i normaly do first a restart on the device and then if dont work i do also a factory reset.

I do that too on other devices, hard reset is the last resort but it is effective :)
