I dislike the login screen. I use Bitwarden to fill in my username and password.
The username and password are on 2 separate screens. So i need click twice on my bitwarden icoon

Painstakingly boring. I don't see any new features or abilities that will change/enhance my experience from 6.2. Since it's a "preview" you can never really be sure if additional features will be added in, but for the most part, it's the same old, same old.

Due to the preview TOS, I can't offer anything other than vague generalities... That said... the much-touted "Photos" is a complete disappointment. Maybe it will run smoother with less CPU/RAM under the hood, but some features from Moments were dropped. I'll be staying with Photo Station if that will be possible. My skeptical take is that Synology is doing away with those Moments aspects that are buggy and too bothersome to recode.

I'm seeing/expecting very little change/improvement in contacts, calendaring, and docker short-comings... Still, RC is well off in the future, so maybe Santa will bring us all nice treats... but I'm not counting on it.

Perhaps our resident optimist will paint a happier face than I'm feeling right now.

HybridShare, Active Insight, Active Backup for Macs (in the future), Secure Signin (if they tweak it a bit), there are things there... all around a good upgrade imho. It will get even better.

I'm curious to see if a newer QEMU/KVM version lies under the hood of Virtual Machine Manager. I'll take VirtualDSM for a spin this weekend when I have some free time.

Just had a drive failed with bad sectors on a volume under DSM7. Luckily that volume was targeted for deletion considering it was EXT4.

After deleting the volume and replacing the drive with a brand new one, the storage pool was unable to create a partition on the new drive and add it to the existing pool (atm with no volume).

Had to destroy the pool and rebuild it. Then the process was fine with no problem and the new volume was also created. Optimization is in progress atm.

Not fun I have to say. Wonder if the same thing would have happened if I had an existing volume on that pool or not?

True but then again not sure if this is a DSM7 problem is just my luck... it is a basic RAID5 configuration with the same drives, so kind of textbook. I'll see what they reply with.

With the old DSM my computer started up quickly, since DSM 7 it takes an age for the Synology to start up on my PC, or am I the only one in the whole wide world experiencing this fenomenen?

I hear in DSM7 u can finally have multiple Active Directory domain controllers, which wasn't possible pre-DSM7. If that is the case, than +1 like.

Migrating from LDAP to AD will probably be a hellish job, no idea yet how I'm gonna pull that off...

Cloud be. If anything dsm7 is a speed demon compared to dsm6. What exact browser are you using and what model of NAS is it (ds218play)?

NAS DS220+:
- I disliked the login screen in two steps
- Now it uses more RAM MEMORY
- The WOL function is not working (I openned a ticket)
- Synology Photos is not good, DSPHOTOS were much better, faster and easier to use.
- Sometimes the use of CPU goes very high without reason.
- DSAUDIO now takes a very long time to be connected over internet.

The login screen split to two is bad. Especially if one is using a password manager.
Is it supposed to make it more secure, like harder for bots? Any benefits?

The rest could be fixed (it’s still a Beta).
