vmm all the way brother ;)
I guessed that you'd be doing it, but I'd have to rebuild with Btrfs first and TBH I've a good book to read first and a bit of 'Floyd on the turntable for the background ambience.

That 4-bay I'm hankering after would be getting the VMM right now tho'.

To whichever brave souls are smoke-testing their units with DSM7 Preview: I would love to hear whether backing up the configuration (using Control Panel's configuration backup or Hyper Backup's) actually backs up (and restores) the ENTIRE system configuration, including, e.g., firewall settings, the name of the Diskstation, reverse proxy settings in Control Panel/Application Portal, custom HTTP and HTTPS ports in Control Panel / Network / DSM Settings, etc. Thanks!

Niche, but if someone has an Apple TV 4th/5th gen (a.k.a. HD/4K) or other Airplay 2 receiver can they see if DSM 7's Audio Station now works with them, as per pre-release notes.

If I get access I will test it in VMM and on my DS718 bare metal.

I will accept any request for testing that I will be able to do in a given time

Unbelievable... I see my 213j made the DSM7 cut. Maybe I'll do this after all.

If you're able to determine whether CMS's settings (particularly group policies) can be backed up and restored, that would be great!

Well got contacted by Syno USA contact of mine and I got accepted into the preview :D. Waiting on additional emails for confirmation and access to the good stuff. Let the testing begin (soon)!.

Making a list of wishes on my end posted in this thread, if I miss anything shoot me a PM.

If you could post some screenshots of the new Directory Server, I would be glad.

I will update my spare DS214+ though, but this one does not have the prerequisites for the Directory Server package: not Intel or x64 processor.

Thx,

Gents you need to count, that this is pre-enroll stage, when Syno needs to test their new Sys with specific user groups, then NDA is a standard approach. Rusty good luck with the tests, then I/we will wait for authorized comments.

You will have to wait. I'm also waiting for access to the new DSM and apps even though I'm officially enrolled.

As @jeyare said, make sure if you get accepted to NOT use this on your production machines. Only virtual ones or appliances that you know are your rip and tear machines. This is not even a beta stage atm so the software will have lots of options missing or not working at all as well as some options coming in at a later time (new features).

@Rusty if you need a help with the test I have 5hours of free time in airport (delayed flight) ☹️. Just send me your credentials and will try to upload the new sys also to unsupported HW, just to be sure.
