Hi all,

One of the reason I prefer a NAS over cloud storage, is that I'm in "control" over my data and system.
DSM 7.0 install things to create temptation for their cloud and other online services which I really don't like. I just don't want apps running on the machine which I'll never use.
I hope I'm not alone wit this.

second, why SNMP, iSCSI, SAN Manager and SMB are allowing these ports?
SNMP, iSCSI and SMB disabled. SAN manager just force it's port to run

Why SNMP enabled by default?

Can you verify that those ports are open on your nas firewall? Even if they are, those ports are not open on your router are they? Are those services running at all?

Thanks for your reply Rusty.
I'm using Juniper's NGFW, not my nas fw.
curl call refused on those ports but that's because Synology listen on loopback - still not something I want.

see below the list of the ports of which the NAS is listening. those unwanted the NAS listening for loopback only so it's internal - and that's because the service is running which is why I'm especially annoyed.
I also disabled IPv6 but it looks like IPv6 is still in use.
