I switched from Google photos to Synology Photos and I really wanted to work. I'm a Synology fan. But I'm having a problem that's a deal breaker and it's been going on for a while on different phones as I've tried to migrate over the years.
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note phone. My wife has a Samsung Galaxy S10. I'm using the latest version of the Photos app. We both use the stock camera app. Obviously it's important that when we snap a picture with the camera it shows up in the app, and that it gets uploaded to the cloud. But no matter what we do, I'm finding that it regularly and frequently stops uploading and when I go into the settings in the Photos app, it says "Photo upload not enabled". I enable it and click done or save or whatever it is. But 6 hours later it's not working. Sometimes I take a picture, I check and it uploads. More often, it does not.
Also when you go into the Synology Photos app on your phone and click the 3 dots, there is an Upload button??? Why? Worse, when I click Upload and select the pictures that were taken and not uploaded, it uploads them to the phone.
I've checked the settings. I've got it backing up on Wi-Fi or cellular data, I'm not restricting uploads to only when it's plugged in. I've got the app battery setting set to no restrictions in terms of power savings. There's another setting under battery usage on a per-app basis and photos had checked allow background access. The permissions are fully permissive, access to photo location, notifications and GPS location. They are all allowed.
I can't be the only one with this issue. Are other people having this happen? Is there something I'm missing?
