Hi all, I am a new comer in this forum & would like to ask for any suggestion..

I own Ds718+ but recently one of HDD drive has degraded.

Option 1: buy a new HDD
Option 2: buy a new HDD + new NAS (

If I go with option2, should I install new HDD into current one to make sure everything is fine before moving all to new nas ? Or simply put all to new NAS & let everything setup there?

My current one was bought 5 years ago & the bay door is broken, not sure it’s too early to buy a new one.

Many thanks

In fact, It's only a choice that you can make.
I would buy a new HDD.

It's depending on what you want, sometimes it's better to start over when you want to have Btrfs and your current is EXT4.

No reason a degraded HDD would necessitate a new NAS. Test the drive on a PC. If bad, replace. If good, reformat it, and see if the NAS will accept it. If not, replace the drive.
